Isaac Lothrop Esq., was the son of Isaac and Elizabeth (Barnes) Lothrop; born 1707; married 1st, Hannah, daughter of Edmund Freeman, 1729; married 2nd, Priscilla (Thomas) widow of John Watson, 1733. He was Justice of the Court of Common Pleas, and his death was lamented throughout the county. At the opening of the Court at the next term of the Court after his death, the Chief Justice, Nicholas Sever, and Peter Oliver, an Associate Justice of the Court, both expressed their great grief and sorrow with which the Court and bar were affected by the melancholy event, and observed that Col. Lothrop was held in profound regard as a Judge, and was greatly respected for his moral and Christian virtues. He possessed a large estate, and transacted extensive business in the mercantile line, in which he sustained an honorable and upright character. Few men have been more beloved, nor any whose death could diffuse more heartfelt sorrow among the poor, and in every social circle. He had five children, four sons and one daughter.
