| Birth: | 1938 | | Death: | 1995 |  Canadian Songwriter and Musician. MacLellan is best remembered for his hits such as, "Put Your Hand In The Hand" and "Snowbird." In 1970 his song,"Snowbird" was recorded by Anne Murray and by 1971, it was a big hit, as well as song of the year. His songs were also recorded by the likes of Elvis Presley, Chet Atkins, Rance Allen Group, Lynn Anderson, Joan Baez, Perry Como, Ray Conniff, Shirley Caesar, and Donny Hathaway, and many others. In 1967 he recorded an album entitled, "Street Corner Preacher," and released the songs, 'Thorn In My Shoe,' 'Pages Of Time,' 'Call,' 'Isle Of Saint Jean,' 'Face In The Mirror,' 'What Can You Do?' 'Hard As I Try,' and 'Death Of The Black Donnellys.' In 1970 he also regularly appeared on the CBC television series, "Singalong Jubilee." (bio by: K)

I have cherished Snowbird ever 1970. I also have cherished Put Your Hand in the Hand of the Man from Galilee almost as long. Not until this year did I ever learn about the author. How much I appreciate Gene!!! God bless his daughter and other survivors! I...(Read more) -
