Myrtis Thomas Cox, 90, of Hillsville, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. Mrs. Cox was born in the Gladesboro community of Carroll County on October 6, 1921 to the late Alfred Marion and Tekoa Light Thomas. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Loren E. Cox; and siblings Zelma Worrell, Elva Horton, Mamie Smith, Alma Barr, George Thomas, and Claude Thomas. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Jerry E. and Denise Cox; and two grandsons Jordan Cox and Ashtan Cox all of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at Gladesboro Lutheran Church at 1:00 PM with Pastor Joseph Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel on Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
