Obit for James N. Nelson, from the Joplin Sunday Herald on 6 Sep 1891 reads as follows:
J.N. Harville formerly a resident of Joplin, MO died at 8 o'clock Thursday night at his home in Hart, MO,, McDonald County of apoplexy. He was stricken Wednesday and from 2 o'clock Thursday until his death was unconscious. The remains were brought to Joplin Friday over the Split log and the funeral took place at 1 o'clock Friday forenoon, (Definition of apoplexy is a sudden paralysis usually the result of a hemorrhage causing pressure on the brain.)
The deceased resided in Joplin for several years and was engaged in mining. About nine months ago he removed to Hart and engaged in the grocery business and was subsequently appointed postmaster of the little village, which position he held up to the time of his death. His wife died in Joplin about a year ago, but he leaves surviving him five children, three daughters and two sons. The oldest daughter is Mrs A.F. Grant of Gelena. The other children are unmarried. Mr Harville was a member of O. P. Morton Post Grand Army of the Republic, and of Joplin Lodge, Knights and Ladies of Honor. He had an insurance $1000 on his life in the last named organization. The internment today will take place in the Cox burying ground where the remains of Mrs. Harville lie.
