Ethel Anderson, 106, died Nov. 7, 2011, at Minneola Long Term Care Unit. She was born July 24, 1905, in Larned, Kan., daughter of Joseph and Mary Catherine (Baker) King.
She was a longtime area resident, a homemaker and a member of the Minneola United Methodist Church, WSCS and taught Sunday school. Ethel graduated from Zook High School in 1925, and attended McPherson College for two years. She taught in a one room country school in Clark County for a year. On Aug. 8, 1928, she married Henry Anderson at Larned, Kan. They lived on a farm south of Bloom, Kan. Ethel continued to live on the farm until 2002, when she entered the Minneola Long Term Care home. Henry died May 21, 1980 at their home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; a daughter, Melda Skeen and husband Ray; two brothers, Delbert and Harvey King; sister, Mayme Morris and husband Charles; grandson, Ronnie Barnett; son-in-law, Jerry Stroud; and grandson-in-law, Dan Norton. Survivors include: two daughters, Eloise Stroud of Wichita, Kan. and Verna Bowling and husband Ocie of Minneola, Kan. She was "Granny" to 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 12 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at the Minneola United Methodist Church, with Reverend Kip Ryherd officiating. Calling times will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Minnis Mortuary, Minneola with burial in Appleton Township Cemetery near Minneola Kan. Memorials to Minneola Business Development, Inc.
