William Rennie
Birth: Oct. 31, 1822
Death: Aug. 22, 1886

Indian Mutiny Victoria Cross War Medal Recipient. He served as a Lieutenant and adjutant in the 90th Perthshire Light Infantry, British Army. On September 21, 1857, at Lucknow, India, Lieutenant Rennie charged the enemy's guns in advance of the skirmishers of his regiment. Under heavy musketry fire, he prevented them from dragging off one gun, which subsequently was captured. On September 25, 1857, he again charged in advance of the 90th column in the face of heavy grape fire and forced the enemy to abandon their guns. For most prestigious gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Victoria Cross War Medal and later achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
