He, with other members of his family, came to America 65 years ago and after a brief stay in Ohio, the family came on to Minnesota and settled in the vacinity of Berne. Nine years before her death in 1925, Mrs. Miller became an invalid and they left the farm and moved first to Mantorville and then to West Concord. After the death of his wife and mother, Mr. Miller returned to the Berne community, residing with his son Charles and until a few years ago, worked occasionally at his trade as a carpenter.
In 1875, three years after its organization he became a member of the Berne congregation and at various times served the congregation as an officer, first as Deacon and then as Elder, until increasing deafness forced his retirement. He was always a contriburor of the causes of the local church.
