Funeral services for Mrs. J. E. May, 80, of Warthen who died after an extended illness, Thursday, Sept. 29, at the home of her niece, Mrs. William Turner, were held Friday Sept. 30, at Union Baptist Church at 3 o'clock. The Rev. Gen Trawick, pastor of the church officiated. Mrs. May was born March 17, 1875, in Washington County Miss Dennie Mills, daughter of the late J. B. Mills and Ardelia Frances Vinson Mills. She was a member of the Union Baptist Church and was married to the late Jim E. May. Survivors are two step-daughters, Mrs. Jack Burgamy, Milledgeville; Mrs. Hoke May, Warthen; three stepsons, Jule May, Hubert May, Alton May, all of Milledgeville; one brother, Albert Mills, Warthen; five nieces and one nephew. Pall bearers were Marvin Turner, Billy Turner, Ralph Walker, Jr., A.F. Mills, Jeff Norris, and John Cook. Honorary pall bearers were William Turner, Gordan Mills, Herbert Reynolds, Jewell Lewis, Robert Cook and Eugene Waler. Interment was in the church yard cemetery with Mayo Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
