Mary K. Bassett, 67, of Montrose lost her battle with cancer on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 12th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Montrose with burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery. A rosary and prayer service will be held at St. Patrick's on Friday at 7:00 pm. Visitation will be from 9 am – 4:30 pm on Friday at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem and prior to the rosary at St. Patrick's. Mary K. Gordon was born on October 29, 1944 in Montrose. She grew up in the Montrose area and lived there most of her life where she operated the Office Bar. The thing that brought a smile to her face was spending time with her family and friends. She was also very active in the Montrose community and a proud supporter of all local athletics. Mary is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (Jon) Erickson of Bonaire, GA, and Amy (David) Muth of Mitchell; seven grandchildren, Amber, Bradley (Kristin), James, and Emily Erickson and Haley, Matthew, and Hannah Muth; three brothers, Joe (Janice) of Salem, Dick (Marlene) of Sioux Falls, and Bill (LaDean) of Oklahoma; one sister, Peggy (Vince) Jesse of Montrose; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Patty Jesse, and one son, Bobby.
