John W. Vencak Sr., 90, of Middletown, entered into rest on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born in Mocanaqua, PA, on November 17, 1920 and was the son of the late, John and Mary Vnencak of (Hobby) Wapwallopen, PA.
John was a retired custodian supervisor at Central Dauphin School District. He was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Middletown. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a member of American Legion Post 594 of Middletown.
In addition to his parents ha was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie G. Cochran Vencak; his son, John W. Vencak Jr.; grandson John W. Vencak III.
He is survived by two daughters, Sophia J. Danner wife of George Danner of Etters, Doris M. Gordon wife of Kenneth Gordon of Middletown; granddaughter, Teresa J. (Myers) Cooke wife of Stephen Cooke of Middletown; grandsons, Leroy Vencak, David Willow, Leon Gordon, Anthony Vencak, and Michael Wagner; great grandchildren, Ashley McCann, DJ Sechrist, Felicia Vencak, Damion Vencak, Julie Gordon, Nevada Gordon, Justin Willow, and Ashley Wagner; one great-great grandson, Daniel Jacob.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Seven Sorrows Church, Race & Conewago Streets, Middletown, with the Rev. Louis P. Ogden as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
