Lena F. Lopez passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at the Bayou Vista Nursing Home in Bunkie. She was a native of Bunkie, but a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. She was a very active member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, where she was a member of the Altar Society and Prayer Group. She also volunteered many hours for the Baton Rouge Council of Aging with the Meals on Wheels program. She loved to cook and have family and friends over to share her delicious meals. Her most-prized possession was her beautifully landscaped yard, especially during the spring when the azaleas were in full bloom.

Lena was preceded in death by her husband, E.J. "Tip" Lopez; parents, Albert and Josephine Frank; brothers, Albert, Charles, George, and Robert; and sisters, Eugena Ball and Leona Haven. She was a devoted aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Bunkie, with the Rev. Patrick Braquet officiating. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum, Pythian Cemetery, Bunkie, under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Sunday until service time in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Bunkie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
