George Bowsher, the son of John and Hannah (Peters) Bowsher, came to Indiana from Pickaway County, Ohio, in 1833. His mother died when he was seven years old, and his father married Mrs. Catherine Start. His father had six children from each marriage. George was married to Rebecca Dodson, a native of Ohio, who came with her parents to Tippecanoe county about 1835, and they had six children; Llewellyn, George, Alice, Simon, Elizabeth and Maria.
