ROSA MAE DELL KOON HACKATHORN was the Daughter of Hiram Koon (or any varation of this name!) and Martha J. Groves.
Rosa, or "Rosie" as she was sometimes known, was born on January 13, 1889 in Washington County, Ohio.

Rosa married Walter Allen Hackathorn on December 25, 1908 in Washington County, Ohio.

Walter Allen Hackathorn was born on June 18, 1889 in Grandview Township, Washington County, Ohio to Peter Hackathorn and Clarissa B. Huffman. He died on July 9, 1967 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Walter Allen Hackathorn and Rosa Mae Dell Koon had the following children:

1. SARAH HACKATHORN was born in 1910 in Ohio. As of this writing on February 19, 2013, no records can be found of her death and/or of her marriage. Also, no records can be found of a grave for Sarah.

2. HAROLD E. HACKATHORN was born in 1911 in Ohio. He died on April 10, 1965 in Akron Township, Summit County, Ohio. He never married, according to my Mother, his niece, as (she wrote in a list of our family's geneaology) he was "mentally retarded".

3. JULIA HACKATHORN was born in 1912 in Ohio. Like Sarah, it is not known, at this writing, what happened to Julia as no further records past the 1920 Census can be found for her.

4. MARTHA MYRTLE HACKATHORN was born on February 19, 1912 in Caywood Village, Washington County, Ohio. She died on August 28, 1912 in Lawrence Township, Washington County, Ohio. Litte Martha died of acute gastroenteritis, an illness that is somewhat easily curable today. She is buried at Moss Run Cemetery.

5. JACKSON SYLVESTER HACKATHORN was born in 1914 in Ohio. He died on May 16, 1978 in (per his second Wife's obituary). He was commonly known by the name of "Jack".

Jack married Laura Brown on June 29, 1935 in Washington County, Ohio. She was the Daughter of Wesley A. Brown and Permelia Gregory. Laura was born in 1915 in Ohio.

Jack's second Wife was Rose Ann Stewart. He and Rose were married on May, 16, 1975, Rose was the Daughter of Robert Stewart and Maggie McSurley. She was born on February 16, 1921 in Boyd County, Kentucky and she died on March 17, 2005 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio at the Heartland Community.

6. GEORGE HACKATHORN was born in 1916 in Ohio. It is not known, as of this writing, what became of George as no records for him exist after the 1920 Census.

7. SYLVIA RUTH HACKATHORN was born on September 12, 1916 in Ohio. She died on August 25, 1985 in Akron, Summit County, Ohio. Sylvia married Wilbert Franklin Kim, son of Willi Kim and Esta (unknown maiden name), probably sometime in 1933 or in 1934. An application for a marriage license was approved on November 17, 1933 in Washington Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania for Sylvia marriage to Wilbert. Many of the "facts," including the bride's age, have been found to be incorrect.

Wilbur was born on December 29, 1909. He died on February 27, 1987 in Tallmadge Township, Summit County, Ohio.

8. DONALD DELL HACKATHORN was born on September 1, 1919 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio. He died on March 5, 1988 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio. Donald married Eleanor Vanhook on May 15, 1941 in Summit County, Ohio. Eleanor, the Daughter of Orel Vanhook and Tishie Barr, was born on January 9, 1924 in Akron Township, Summit County, Ohio. She died on March 30, 2005 in Ohio.

Donald and Eleanor divorced on January 13, 1987. Their Divorce Decree was issued by the Cuyahoga County, Ohio Court.

9. BERTHA VIVIAN HACKATHORN was born on August 22, 1923 in Washington County, Ohio. She died on April 9, 1982 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio.

According to Julia Edgington, Bertha's Daughter, Bertha and Lee Adam Edgington were married on May 24, 1940 in Bucyrus Township, Crawford County, Ohio. In the 1940's Federal Census, Bertha is found living with her Sister's, Ruth's, family in Bucyrus. No record of marriage, to date, has been found. Lee Edgington was the Son of Lemuel Washington Edgington and Edith Mae Bresby. He was born on May 2, 1910 and he died on April 24, 1989 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio. Shortly after Bertha's death, Lee married for a second time. His second Wife's name was Margaret Dye.

10. JAMES JOSIAH HACKATHORN was born on September 20, 1926 in Wingett Run Township, Washington Couty, Ohio (according to his marriage records). He died on February 4, 1988 in Akron, Summit County, Ohio. James married Maxine Valentine Stuart on July 21, 1950. Maxine was the Daughter of Robert Stuart and Ethel Burchett. She was born on February 14, 1932 in Akron Township, Summit County, Ohio.

11. DELBERT EUGENE HACKATHORN was born on February 8, 1928 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio. Delbert died on April 12, 1981 in Marietta Township, Washington County, Ohio.

Delbert's first Wife was Martha Maxine Cooley.

Delbert's second Wife was Kathryn Ann Perry, whom he married on June 27, 1956 in Summit County, Ohio. Kathryn was the Daughter of Robert Martin Sperry and Rita LuDell Porter. She was born on August 5, 1929 in Garrettsville Township, Portage County, Ohio. Delber and Kathryn divorce on January 6, 1967 in Summit County, Ohio.

Delbert's third Wife was Janet Lee Fincher, whom he married on February 5, 1972 in Summit County, Ohio. She was the Daughter of George Fincher and Lena Parks. Janet was born on December 23, 1933 in Akron Township, Summit County, Ohio. Delbert and Janet divorce on July 11, 1973 in Summit County, Ohio.



Rosa died in Akron, Ohio, which is located in the north of Ohio. The Social Security Death Index, however, lists her last residence as Graysville, Monroe County, Ohio. It is probable that, at the time of her death, Rosa was visiting one of her children that had relocated from area in the south eastern part of the state to the Akron area, which is in the northern part of the state and where a lot of industries and jobs were located from the early 1900's until the late 1970's.
