He was born June 12, 1920, in Ririe, Idaho, to John Irwin Ker, and Eunice Jane Perry Ker. He was raised with his best friend; his brother, Richard "Dick" W. Ker on the family farm on Birch Creed Road, west of Ririe. He attended schools in Ririe, graduating from Ririe High School in 1939. He attended Ricks College before being called to serve in the US Navy. Jack was released from his military duty to run the family dry farm, and continued as a dry farmer throughout his life breaking new ground from Arco to Swan Valley. On May 28, 1941, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna Mae Moncur; their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 20, 1946. Jack and Donna had four lovely daughters.
Jack was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as High Priest, as a Counselor in the Sunday School and as a Missionary at the Washington D.C. LDS Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Mae Ker, of Idaho Falls, daughters, Euince Darleen (Dale) Bunnell, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Judy Ruth (Tom Hally) Ker, of Idaho Falls, Laura Jan (Mark) Lynch, of Idaho Falls, Dawna Joan (Rick) Sandoval, of Ririe, 13 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the Woodruff 3rd Ward LDS Chapel, 2055 Coronado St., Idaho Falls, with Bishop Lee Brundage, conducting. The family will receive friends from 7:00 a.m., to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday evening at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
