Thomas L. Flynn, 86

Thomas L. Flynn, 86, of Blair, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Campbell-Aman Funeral Chapel in Blair. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 20, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Thomas Lloyd Flynn was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Ord to Richard Patrick and Hester Ruth (Harris) Flynn. He graduated from Blair High School in 1937.

Mr. Flynn and his brothers, Adrian, Robert and Eugene, along with their father, "R.P.", started a dairy operation in 1931 that turned into one of the largest
family-owned dairies in Nebraska. Tom Flynn worked at the Safeway store in Blair while helping with the dairy and attending school.

After retiring from the dairy business, he worked at Cargill as a corn grader for Woods and Tenant.

He was a veteran of World War II, enlisting in March 1942 and serving until October 1945.

He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Odd Fellows, American Legion and the Mid-America Dairy Association.

He married Betty Louis Samson in October 1957. They had four children, who survive him, Cathy Hurst of Dallas, Texas, Tommy Joe Reynolds of Raleigh, N.C., Patty and Gary Payne of Fremont, and Robert and Brenda Flynn of Blair. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother and
sister-in-law, Eugene and Katy Flynn of Blair; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth and Richard Lippincott of Blair and Isabel Shapnek of Scotia, N.Y.; sister-in-law,
Jean Flynn of Blair; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; brothers, Robert, Richard and Adrian; and a sister, Margaret.
