Born on the family farm near Commercial Point, OH on October 19, 1926. At Scioto Township High School, Don was on the varsity basketball team. After high school, he attended Purdue University. Left college to enlist in the United States Army to serve his country during World War II.
Upon returning home he married Merle Osborne. They celebrated over 50 years together before Merle's death in 2002.
Besides his family, Don's greatest interests were reading, solving crossword puzzles, and, of course, Ohio State University sports.
