Robert D. "R.D." Vaughn, 63, of McLeansboro, died 9:37 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2011, at his home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1947, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Orval and Georgia (Overbey) Vaughn. He married Debra Merritt on May 29, 1976, in Evansville, Ind.; she survives in McLeansboro.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Stacie Endrizzi and husband Darryl of Johnston City and Deanna Durbin and husband Travis of New Harmony, Ind.; two sons, Scott Vaughn and wife Betsey of Orlando, Fla., and Brent Vaughn and wife Crystal of Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Curt Vaughn and wife Pat of Mt. Vernon; five grandsons, Bryar Endrizzi, Dylan and Jacob Kaufman, Grayson Vaughn and Gage Vaughn; five granddaughters, Anne-Kirke Vaughn, Jayden Vaughn, Kimberlyn Weaver, Brylea Endrizzi and Kylea Devoy; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orval and wife Linda Vaughn; a brother, Donald ray Vaughn; and a sister, Nellie Marie Snow and husband Lincoln.
He was Roadmaster for CSX Railroad, from which he was retired. Mr. Vaughn was a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Dale. He loved fishing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a past member of the McLeansboro Kiwanis and the Hamilton County Jaycees.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro with the Revs. Harl Cockrum and Roger Hobbs officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
