Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Goessling, who died at the home of her youngest daughter, Mrs. Adala Casper in Tacoma, Wash., of a heart attack Oct. 25, were held at the Pfeffer Funeral Home Sunday.
Mrs. Goessling, nee Jennie Schlichting, was born in Chilton, April 24, 1869, the only daughter of Bertha and Reinhard Schlichting. She graduated from Chilton High School in 1886, after which she taught schools of Calumet County. She was married to Chas. Goessling in 1907.
She performed her duties as wife and mother faithfully and efficiently and leaves as a heritage to the five surviving children of a former marriage to Charles Goessling, the most beautiful memory a mother could bequeath to her children, the memory of one who exemplified all that was noble, kind and beautiful in character.
No stone in her path was left unturned in being of service and making others happy. She ardently believed and executed this belief to the hour of her death, that anything which was worth doing at all, was worth doing well.
She was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Ladies’ Aid during the years she lived in Chilton.
Survivors include two nephews, Victor Schlichting, Chicago and Eugene Schlichting, Minneapolis; Hattie Schlichting, the widow of her deceased brother, Herman; the five children of her husband, Robert O. Goessling, Ada Leverenz, Hilma Schendel, Gertrude Schemmer and Adala Casper.
Her husband preceded her in death in 1910. Three brothers Herman, Oscar, and Carl, also preceded her in death.
