Burdett "Burd" Rollins, 81, of Edwardsville, KS, passed away November 1, 2011 at Providence Medical Center. Burdett was born November 18, 1929 in Dill, Oklahoma to Allen Porter and Arriebelle (Stafford) Rollins. Burd left school in the eighth grade to help support his family. He was raised in Arkansas, and worked various jobs over the years at saw mills and harvesting. Burdett married his wife Buna Mae in 1955 and moved to the Kansas City area in 1957, where he's lived ever since. He was a laborer for Local 1290 for 35 years, retiring in 1991. Burd loved to hunt; he bagged a trophy-winning 11-point buck at the age of 65. He was also an avid mushroom hunter and fisherman. Burdett was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Porter and Arriebelle and by his wife of 40 years, Buna Mae Rollins. He is survived by his son Howard Rollins and his wife Juanita and their children, Howard Rollins, II and Katrina Rollins, all of Edwardsville, Kansas. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends to cherish his memory.
