| Birth: | Dec. 21, 1898 | | Death: | Jul. 25, 1973 | World War I Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Rifleman in the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Gurkha Rifles, Indian Army. During an attack at El Kefr, Egypt, April 10, 1918, Rifleman Rana with a few other men crept forward with a light machine gun under intense fire to engage an enemy machine-gun. When one of his team was shot almost immediately, Rifleman Rana pushed the dead man off the gun, opened fire, killing the enemy gun crew and then silenced the fire of the enemy riflemen in front of him. During the remainder of the day he assisted with covering fire in the withdrawal, until the enemy were close on him. For most conspicuous bravery, he was awarded the Victoria Cross Medal in June, 1918. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
