Henry David Cochran known as "Pete"
He was born 8 miles west of Aspermont. Pete went to Johnson Chapel school until it consolidated with Aspermont, where he finished his education. He worked hard and at times was milking 15-20 cows by himself, morning and night. He loved to drive his 47 Jeep and hunt.
In the fall of 1950 Pete met Arnetta Fay Powers in a cotton patch (referred to in the book as the "Cotton Patch Romance" page 131) Arnetta was picking cotton, and Pete was weighing and emptying her cotton sack.
Arnetta's parents were John and Claudie (Pell) Powers. Arnetta was raised in Oklahoma, her parents living at Olustee (OK)at the time Pete and Arnetta were courting. Pete had to cross the Red River to go see Arnetta. Pete was known for fast driving....his 42 Buick being reported as "sprouting wings".
On Feb 17, 1951, Pete and Arnetta were married at Altus. They spent the rest of their life (except for 2 months) in Stonewall County. Pete worked in the oil field most of his life, and is self emplyed since 1963.
Children were Randy David, Bessie Fay, Jim Houston, They still own land west of Aspermont that has been in the Cochran family since 1916. (Family legend has it that Sam Houston is related to this family)
