Birth: Mar. 1, 1844
Death: Jan. 16, 1914

Mrs. Clara McKinney Todd, daughter of the late Joe and Nancy McKinney was born in Tigerville, S.C. Greenville County, on March the first 1844, and went to her eternal heavenly home on January the 16th, 1914. In her early womanhood, she was married to John H. Todd, after her marriage they moved to Laurens county where she joined the Baptist church at Cedar Grove, during the ministry of Dr. John A. B_____, later moved her membership to Simpsonville, S. C., where she was a faithful and consistent member of this band. Sister Todd was a beautiful Christian character, regular attendant at all the services of her church, prayer meeting, Sunday school and Women's Missionary Society. Liberal in her contributions, a great lover of the Bible, even when disease ---------- her reading, she would hold the book, and turn and look upon the pages. She was greatly interested in the enterprise of the new church building and gave liberally to its erection, and wanted to live to see it completed, but God thought best to take her to a more beautiful home. She called her pastor and her children and grandchildren around her bedside for prayer and worship and talked beautifully about how soon she would be with Jesus and expressed her affections for her dear children whom she loved devotedly. For her to live was Christ to die was her gain.

She leaves the following children to mourn her irreparable loss: Messrs Arthur (John Arthur)Todd, C. M. (Collier MacDuffie) Todd, H. M. (Flarence Morgan)Todd and Mrs. F. D. Hunter (Alice Eugenia) of Simpsonville, S.C.; Homir L. (Homer Lee) Todd pf Greenville, S. C.; Toy L. Todd, of Coronaca, S.C. An aged brother, William McKinney, of Tigerville, and a large circle of grandchildren . She was laid to rest in the cemetery at Simpsonville, after services in the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. D. Hunter. The floral tribute was beautiful and abundant. We will miss her much but we will meet her in Heaven.
