| Birth: | Jan. 27, 1893 | | Death: | Nov. 6, 1917 |  World War I Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Captain in the Royal Army Medical Corps, 6th Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers. In actions at Palestine, Israel, on November 6, 1917, Captain Russell repeatedly went out to attend the wounded under continuous fire from snipers and machine-guns. In many cases, when no other means were at hand, he carried wounded in himself until he was killed on the field. For extreme valour, he was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross Medal in January, 1918. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
