Austin Downing, 61, of Clarksburg, died at 4:54a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Berger Hospital, Circleville. He was born on June 7, 1949, in Ross County, the son of Gene and Mary B. Daugherty Downing. He was married to the former Frances Puckett on April 5, 1968 and she survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Mary B. Downing of Clarksburg, one son; Mark A. Downing (T.J. Secrest), one daughter; Monica L. Downing all of Clarksburg, three granddaughters; Autumn, Shyan and Makya Downing, two sisters; Judy (Dale) Smith of Clarksburg, Telisa (Richard) Schoonover of Chillicothe, three brothers; Lafe (Kathy) Downing of Bourneville, Jerry (Amy) Downing and Dave Downing all of Chillicothe and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Downing.
He retired from Maintenance at Georgia Pacific in Circleville. He served on the Deerfield Township Fire Department for 35 years and had served as assistant Chief. He had attended God's Community Outreach Church.
Services were entrusted to Ebright Funeral Home of Frankfort, Ohio.
