Carolyn Sue Patterson, 67, of Valley Mills, passed away Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at her home with family at her side. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at the Valley Mills First Baptist Church. Interment will be in Whitney Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Foss Funeral Home. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Sue was born in Ardmore, Okla., to the late Rueben E. and Bertha Inez (Carter) Franklin. She married the Rev. Jim Patterson Sr. on Aug. 18, 1961, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Sue was a member of the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Valley Mills. She worked with her husband as he pastored churches in Mason, Weslaco, and in West. Sue was employed with the U.S.D.A until her recent illness.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dianna Armstrong.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Jim Patterson Sr.; children, Jimmy Patterson Jr., Julie Leeper, and Cynthia Anthony; grandchildren, Jeffrey Thrift, Matthew Anthony, Amanda Armstrong, Jeremy Anthony, Daniel Armstrong, Jennifer Patterson, and Andrew Jones; great-grandchildren, Eric Anthony, Plexi Armstrong, Peter Armstrong, and Isaiah Anthony; sister, Kay Pruett; and many other family members and numerous friends.
