Mrs. Ruth Coate Humphreys, 32, justice of the peace at Gadsden for the past several terms, passed away at her home in Gadsden this morning following a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be held at the O.C. Johnson chapel Monday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. David Kingman, pastor of the Somerton Methodist church, officiating. Interment will take place in the Yuma cemetery.

Born in Texas
Born Feb. 28, 1904 at Del Rio, Texas, she was a mascot and honorary member of the Del Rio chapter, Order of Eastern Star. She received her education in the Yuma valley school and is a graduate of Yuma Union high school, class of 1924. She is a graduate of the San Diego Business college.

Surviving are her mother, Mrs. E.E. Coate,
a sister, Mrs. C.W. Schupbach
and a brother, Albert Coate of Casa Grande,
Harry Ray and Leon, all of Bakersfield,
and Ernest of Sacramento, Calif.

Mrs. Humphreys had been the Yuma Sun's correspondent at Gadsden for the past eight years.
