Bruce George "Paladin" Gamble

Death: Dec. 30, 1984

Professional Hockey Player. Gamble who was born in Port Arthur, Ontario, on May 28, 1938, played for teams in the American Hockey League (AHL), Western Hockey League (WHL), National Hockey League (NHL), and the Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL). At 5'09" and 190lbs he played the position of Goalie for the Providence Reds from 1957 to 1961, Vancouver Canucks from 1958 to 1959, New York Rangers from 1958 to 1959, Boston Bruins from 1960 to 1962, Portland Buckaroos from 1961 to 1962, Kingston Frontenacs from 1962 to 1963, Springfield Indians from 1963 to 1964, Tulsa Oilers from 1965 to 1967, Rochester Americans from 1966 to 1967, Toronto Maple Leafs from 1965 to 1971, and the Philadelphia Flyers from 1970 to 1972. He was the winner of the Rookie Award from 1958 to 1959. In 1972 while playing with the Philadelphia Flyers during a game with the Vancouver Canucks, Gamble suffered a heart attack on the ice. He soon retired from hockey the same year. On December 30, 1982, while lying in bed he suffered another heart attack and later died in hospital at the age of 44. (bio by: K)
