US Representative. He served in the Georgia State Congress as a member of Georgia state house of representatives (1835 and 1847), and as a member of Georgia state senate (1838, 1849 to 1850, 1855 to 1856). He was a Representative from Georgia to the United States House of Representatives from 1851 to 1855. During the Civil War, he was a Colonel in the Confederate Army.
