Playwright, Theatre Manager and Drama Critic. Founder of the Mercury Theatre, Dukes wrote many plays which appeared on Broadway and in the West End including "The Patriot," "Josef Suss," and "Parisienne." "The Patriot" provided the Broadway debut for Sir John Gielgud. Dukes wrote drama criticism for the likes of "Vanity Fair" and "Star." He was married to the ballet legend Marie Rambert.
