William was born in Savannah, Georgia to Dennis and Mary Blenner-Hassett.

William served as a private in Company F, 54th Georgia Infantry during the Civil War. After the war, he signed his oath of loyalty to the Union on July 11, 1867 in Chatham Co., Georgia.

William was buried in this lot along with Dennis Blankenship, John R. Hassett, Joseph P. Hassett, Mary Blenner-Hassett, and Mary Welch, but she has since been re-interred elsewhere.
