Funeral services were held Tues., Jan. 2, 2001 at Calvary Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant, IA for Alice A. Schutte, age 73, of Mt. Pleasant. Pastor Jeff Crawford officiated. A second service was held for Mrs. Schutte on Thurs. Jan 4, 2001 at the United Methodist Church in Lime Springs, IA with Pastor Bob Holdorf officiating. Burial was in Lime Springs at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to R.S.V.P. of Mt. Pleasant or the Palliative Care Unit of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Mrs. Schutte was born Mar. 14, 1927 at York Township in Minnesota to Easton and Viola Latcham Applen. She graduated from the Lime Springs High School. She married LeRoy A. Schutte on Nov. 5, 1946 in Lime Springs. He preceded her in death in 1986. In 1990 she moved to Mt. Pleasant to be near her son.
Mrs. Schutte worked in her father's grocery store and later worked for many years in the Lime Springs True Value Hardware Store. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Pleasant and attended the Calvary Baptist Church. She was an R.S.V.P. volunteer. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; and a brother in infancy.
Those that survive her include her son, and daughter-in-law, Eugene (June) Schutte of Mt. Pleasant and one sister-in-law Doris Vander Heyden of Rochester, MN.
