Jeanette "Jean" A. Flank, 76, of Cook, passed away unexpectedly at home Wednesday, November 2, 2011.

Jean was born in Hibbing on February 24, 1935 to Henry and Adeline (Scofield) Arnebeck. She grew up in the Bear River area, graduated from the Alango High School in 1954, continued her education at the College of Cosmetology in Virginia, earning her license in cosmetology in 1955. She was united in marriage to Raymond A. Flank on August 6, 1955 at the Bear River Lutheran Church. They settled in Bear River where they resided until moving to Cook in 1967. She worked in several beauty salons then earned her Cosmetologist Salon Managers License and opened "Jeannie's Beauty Salon" in her home in the early 1970's. Her career spanned for 56 years, she announced her retirement on November 1, 2011, the day before her passing. She was the dedicated hairdresser for Mlaker Funeral Home the past 28 years, and was appreciated by the families she was called to serve. Jean enjoyed her profession and made many deep, long lasting friendships throughout her career. Her favorite interest was traveling and seeking new places. Jeannie and Raymond traveled extensively throughout the United States, Caribbean and Europe. Their favorite destination was Colorado Springs, Colorado, to see their son Ross and family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cook and previously served on its council. She was known for her great sense of humor, enjoyed reading novels, liked crafts, baking and enjoyed socializing. Her family fondly recalls her passion was that of keeping a meticulously clean home. Jeannie was a devoted wife, cherished mother and grandmother, and was a dear friend to many and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents Henry (1987) and Adeline ( 2002) Arnebeck; her husband of 55 years, Raymond Flank on Jan. 14, 2011; and a sister Doreen Skraba on Feb. 4, 1997.

A gathering of family and friends will be held 5 to 7 PM on Monday at the Mlaker Funeral Home in Cook and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Rev. Dennis Morriem will be the officiant. The honorary bearers will be Jean's grandchildren. The music will be provided by Pam Ruuska.
