Born in Salem, Missouri. She grew up in St. Louis, and graduated from Wm. McKinley High School. She was trained as a registered nurse before the outbreak of the war, then in the early days of WWII she joined the US Army Nursing Corps. She was commissioned as an officer, and promoted to 1st lieutenant; she served overseas in the in North Africa, Italy and France. After the war she returned to St. Louis and civilian life. She earned both the BSN and MSN degrees at Washington University in St. Louis. She had a long career in medical research, and is an author of several peer-reviewed scientific publications. Our Aunt Lorine was taken from us at too young an age. Those who knew her loved her, and we miss her deeply.
