| Birth: | Sep. 10, 1910 | | Death: | Jan. 22, 2002 | Olympic Athelete. He was the winner of two Olympic gold medals at the 1932 Winter Games and was the patriarch of the first family with three generations of Olympians. His son Jim competed in the Nordic combined and two cross-country ski races at the 1964 Innsbruck Games, and his grandson Jim Jr. competed in the skeleton in the 2002 Winter Games. At 91 he was America's oldest living Winter Olympics gold medalist and his dream was to see his grandson compete as an Olympian. That dream ended when a drunk driver hit Shea's van and killed him just weeks before the 2002 games were to begin. (bio by: Ron Moody)
