William Wetherell married at St. Mildred, Canterbury, Kent, 26 Mar 1627 (license) Mary Fisher, daughter of Thomas Fisher.
They came from Maidstone, Kent, to Massachusetts Bay in 1635 (on 14 Mar 1634/5, "W[illia]m Witherell of Maidstone, schoolmaster, & Mary his wife," with children "Sam[ue]l, Daniel, Thomas" & servant "Anne Richards," were enrolled at Sandwich as passengers for New England on the Hercules. They first settled in Cambridge MA, but moved to Charlestown in 1636, Duxbury in 1639, & Scituate in 1645.
They had nine known children:
SAMUEL: bp. Maidstone, Kent, 5 Dec 1628; m. after 8 Mar 1677/8, Isabel (____) Hiland, widow of Samuel Hiland.
DANIEL: b. Maidstone, 29 Nov 1630; bp. Maidstone, 3 Dec 1630; m. 4 Aug 1639, Grace Brewster, daughter of Jonathan Brewster.
THOMAS: bp. Maidstone, 28 Aug 1633; no record after 1635 passenger list (he was not the "Thomas Witherley" fined in Mass. Bay in 1639).
MARY: b. say 1635; m. Scituate, 20 Nov 1656, Thomas Oldham {1635, Duxbury}.
ELIZABETH: b. say 1637; m. Scituate, 22 Dec 1657, John Bryant.
JOHN: b. say 1640; m. by 1675, Hannah (Pinson) Young, daughter of Thomas Pinson {1638, Scituate} & widow of George Young.
THEOPHILUS: b. say 1642; m. Scituate, 9 Nov 1675, Lydia Parker, daughter of William Parker {1638, Scituate}(not Mary Parker).
SARAH: b. Scituate, 10 Feb 1644/5; bp. Scituate Second Church, 7 Sep 1645; m. Hingham, 21 Dec 1668, Israel Hobart, son of Peter Hobart.
HANNAH: b. Scituate, 20 Feb 1646/7; bp. Scituate Second Church, 28 Feb 1646/7; no further record (she was not the wife of James Morgan of New London).
