Goldie Bertha (Kretzschmar) Altman, 88, of New Ulm, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 7th, 2011 at St. Mark's Medical Center in La Grange, Texas.

Goldie was born in New Ulm on February 13, 1923, the daughter of the late Gustav and Isabella (Rinn) Kretzschmar. She married Lester Altman on April 18, 1944.

She was co-owner of the Altman ARCO Station for 40 years, and was also a rancher, along with her husband. She was a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA), the New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and Hermann Sons. She enjoyed quilting and gardening. She loved and cared for her family, always putting them first.

She is survived by three sons: Larry Altman and wife, Ann Marie of Houston, Ricky Altman and wife, Fay of Columbus and William Altman and wife, Danguole of Houston; one brother, Bert Kretzschmar and wife, Viola of Huntsville; 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 3 sisters: Violet Buechmann, Nadine Kretzschmar and Bertha "Tootsie" Mieth.
