"—Daniel Caulkins, of Lorraine, is one of
the few survivors of the war of 1813 and
the battle of Sackets Harbor. He is believed
to be the only man living who helped
carry the cable from Sackets to Sandy
Creek. Mr. Caulkins is in his 95th year"
