Fred J. Heinzelman, 101, of Chillicothe, died 7:30 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2011 in Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. He was born June 29, 1910, in Chillicothe, to the late George and Loretta M. Zeller Heinzelman. On June 4, 1937, he married the former Lillian S. Long who died September 16, 2009.

Surviving are nieces and nephews, George J. "Bud" (Susan) Heinzelman, of Chillicothe, Judith Heinzelman (Tom) Croxton, Ann Arbor, MI and James P. (Lucille) Heinzelman, Orlando, FL. In addition to his wife, mother and father, he was predeceased by brothers, Harold L. and George J. Heinzelman; a sister, Loretta Georgia Heinzelman; and a cousin and his wife, Edward and Bertha Heinzelman.

Fred worked at the paper mill until he became a deputy sheriff. He was Ross County Sheriff for 21 years from 1956 - 1977. Fred enjoyed working with the youth in his junior deputy program. He was a member of the Lions Club and Trinity United Methodist Church. Fred also attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

Services were entrusted to Ware Funeral Home of Chillicothe, Ohio.
