| Birth: | Jul. 31, 1898 Calumet Houghton County Michigan, USA | | Death: | Mar. 27, 1973 Detroit Wayne County Michigan, USA |  Peace Time Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. Served as a Private, U.S. Marine Corps. While on duty as a sentry at Marine Barracks, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida on February 11, 1921 he rescued a machinist's mate, U.S. Navy, from a burning seaplane which had fallen near his post. With total disregard of personal safety, he pushed himself to a position where he could reach the pinned man beneath the wreckage and rescued him from the burning plane.
