She was born on July 7, 1920, in Fleming, Colo., to Herman and Nettie Grauberger Sonnenberg. She married Kenneth M. Anderson in Fleming on June 14, 1949.
Geraldine is survived by her husband, Kenneth Anderson; three sons, Eugene C. (and Diane) Anderson of Streator, Terry L. Anderson of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Brian K. (and Sherri) Anderson of Galesburg; one sister, Glenis (and Ellis) Schmidt of Fleming; five grandchildren, Ian (and Khristine) Anderson, Jennifer (and Adam) Pettinger, Nathan (and Jenny) Anderson, Nick Anderson and Alex Anderson; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Kyle Anderson.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
She taught elementary school and preschool in Fort Morgan, Colo., Altona, Ill. and Covenant Church in Galesburg. She was a 1938 graduate of Harding High School, Fleming, and a 1942 graduate of the University of Colorado.
Geraldine was a member of Covenant Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in its Women's Circle. She was also a 50-year member of the University of Colorado Alumni Association.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 3, 2011) at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Ek officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 2, 2011) at the chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Covenant Church.
