Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, he began his hockey career as a winger for the Regina Pats in the junior league in 1930. In 1934, he signed as a free agent with Detroit Olympics playing until 1935. For the next fours seasons, he played as a defenseman for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League from (1936-40). In 1941, he joined the Canadian military and played for the Calgary Army team. While on military leave, he died after falling from a balcony at a friend's party in Vancouver, Canada.
