Alex A.McKnight
Born August 28, 1907 in Dallas, Texas, passed away October 27, 1998 in Plano, Texas. In 1951, served as Exaluted Ruler of Dallas Lodge #71, 1952 served two successive terms on the State Ritual Committee and was elected Vice President of the Texas Elks State Association 1958; elected President of Texas Elks State Association, 1960; served as Trustee for the Crippled Children's Hospital in Luling, Texas, chairman of the Grand Lodge Activities Committee. Vice Chairman for the Grand Lodge National Convention held in Dallas, 1965; appointed to the Grand Lodge Committee and on the national level he helped for 50 new lodges, 1996; chairman of the Grand Lodge Convention, 1971; served on the Grand Lodge Convention , 1971, served on Grand Lodge Americanism Committee, 1974; nominated for and awarded the "Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge" Award for the speech he made on Americanism at the Grand Lodge National Convention held in Miami, Florida and in 1989 he received an "Honorary Life President" award from the Texas Elks State Association. Proceded in death by his beloved wife Ethel Y. McKnight. He is survived by his step-son Clyde Young and wife Doris of Garland; grandchildren Clyde R. Young, III and wife Donna of Seagoville, David Ponder of Arlington, Texas; granddaughter Norah Y. Schultz and husband David of Silverthorne, Colorado; Judi Lynn Metaj and husband Steve of Forney; great grandson Christopher Young. Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, October 30, 1998 in Restland Memorial Chapel with Rev. Carol Pagelsen officiating. Interment to follow in Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 29, 1998 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at Restland Memorial Funeral Home.
