MRS. MAUDE COOMBS DIES EARLY SUNDAY AT FLORENCE HOME
Mrs. Maud Coombs, 46, resident of Florence for the past 14 years, died early Sunday morning in her home at Florence, one week after suffering a stroke of apoplexy while attending evening services at the Assembly of God church, of which she was a member.
Mrs. Coombs' condition had been serious since that time and was aggravated by heart trouble, from which she had sufffered for a long time.
She was born in Christian county, Kentucky, on August 11, 1894. On June 17, 1922, she was married at Clarksville, Tenn., to Voney A. Coombs. They moved to Florence 14 years ago and Mr. Coombs died in 1928. Their only child, Elvira, passed away a few months later.
Surviving Mrs. Coombs are her father, S. W. Wells; three sisters, Mrs. Vera Ebling, Mrs Myrtle Johnson and Mrs. Nora Wells; and eight brothers, Whit, Linville, Harold, Albert, Roy, Harry, Olaf, and Bill Wells, all of Kentucky. Present at the time of her death was Albert Wells. A niece, Mrs. Dee Wilson, had made her home with Mrs. Coombs for several years. The family home was at 224 East Sixth street in Florence.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Holt mortuary chapel. The Rev. Bert Dick will officiate and burial will be in Union-Highland cemetery.
