On 19 November 1895, Josephine married Valentine Haehn, in Spring Hill, MN; she was age 19, he was 27. Born 11 November 1868 in Saint Martin, MN, Valentine was the seventh of eighteen children {nine daugters & nine sons} born to (or adopted by) Peter & Anna Mary (Schneider) Haehn.
She attended six months of schooling at Saint Benedict's Academy in Saint Joseph, MN; where she studied sewing among other things. Daughter, Alma, shared: "Josephine made her own wedding dress after returning home after her time at Saint Ben's. It was pearl gray with black beads and the wedding photograph shows that she did a very fine job. In later years, she proved to be an excellent seamstress who sewed many fine pieces of clothing for her daughters – she sewed coats, suits, and every kind of things. Her friends called her ‘Phina' or ‘Phinie'. She liked to play card and was a very good card player."
A homemaker & mother of nine, Josephine died 31 January 1944 in Saint Martin, MN at age 67. Cause of death = complications from a stroke after spending a month in a coma, attended by her daughter, Alma and members of the local Christian Mothers Society.
