The Angelic Hosts came for Mrs. Jewell Keeton on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at her residence among loving family and devoted friends.
Viewing will be held Friday, October 28, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, and visitation with the family will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church, 360 Church Street, in Fairfield.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 29, at 11 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 201 North Mount St., in Fairfield, with pastors Elnora Nunnally and Darrell Houston officiating. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, PR 235 in Fairfield.
Mrs. Keeton was the only child born to Stephen and Clara Perry in Leon County. She was born June 9, 1927. After she completed the public schools in Richard, she attended Wiley College, in Marshall. She was an active member of the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church where she had served as president of the United Methodist Women, Sunday School teacher, Chairperson of the committee on Evangelism, a lay delegate to the Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church, administrative board member, member of the choir and member of the pastor parish relations committee.
Mrs. Keeton was a member of the Heroines Of Jericho Princess Court No. 257 and the Mattie C. Brooks Court No. 96, Ancient Free Masons of Texas.
On August 18, 1946, she and Virgil Keeton, Sr. were married in Leon County. The six children were born to this union that will forever cherish her memory are: Sandra Keeton, Sedona, Arizona; Virgil Keeton, Jr., Fairfield; Stanley Keeton and wife, Christle, Oman, Iraq; Tony Keeton, Desoto; and Sonya Keeton Murphy and husband, Danny, Houston; eight grandchildren: Chris Keeton, Courtney Keeton, Colby Keeton, Kamaryn Keeton, Brilyence Keeton, Shontell Murphy, Shonease Murphy and Shoniya Murphy; cousins who she knew and loved as brother and sister: Sherman Perry, Arlington, and Berdine Perry, Normangee; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Moore's Angelic Funeral Home, 406 Monroe St., in Teague, is serving the Keeton family.
