Olen Boles
Olen Boles, 70, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at his residence.
A native of Cleveland, a former resident of Battle Creek, Mich., and a longtime resident of Meigs County, he was a son of the late Carl Edward Boles and was preceded in death by his first wife, Elva Lou Tennyson Boles; one daughter, Mary Ann Ackley; and one brother, Jewell Boles. He was a former employee of United Steel and Wire and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Walden McAbee Boles of Decatur; his mother, Effie Hennessee Boles of Niota; seven children, Jeff Boles and Linda and Rick Roach, all of Michigan, Norreen and David Talley of Ten Mile, Carolyn Lonagen of Texas, Sheila and Dean Brown of Decatur, Brenda and Chris Goins of Maryville, and Janice Baker of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, Ladonna Boles Topping of Battle Creek, Mich., whom he raised as a daughter, Gerald Shelton of Baumburg, Germany, Johnathon Shelton of Ft. Louis, Wash., Mary Beth Baker of New Johnsonville, Steven and Danny Letner, Josh, Keisha and David Hicks, Tiffany Green, William Bassler, Cindy and Michelle Boles and Breanna and Peyton Goins; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clayton and Melba Boles of Michigan; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Hazel Miller and Wondrella and Gary Deno, all of Michigan; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends and loved ones.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with Brother Jimmy Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Clearwater Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
