Mrs. Violet Earlie Williams, age 89, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Thursday morning, October 27, 2011 at Citizen's Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, Missouri.
Violet was born on April 20, 1922 in Sedalia, Missouri, the daughter of John Casey Whiteman and Earlie (Sanders) Whiteman. She attended public schools in Sedalia, Missouri.
On June 21, 1943 she married August Williams who became a Southern Baptist Minister in 1951. He preceded her in death in 1993.
She was a homemaker and lived in Eldon, Missouri prior to moving to Bolivar in 2005. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eldon, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; August Williams, eight brothers; George, Lee, Paul, Marshall, Casey, Gene, Rob and Carl Whiteman, and one sister; Sue Cramer. Her brother Lt. George Whiteman was the first airman killed at Pearl Harbor. Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, home of the B-2 Stealth Bomber, is named after Lt. Whiteman.
Violet is survived by her three sons; George Williams and his wife Elaine of Bolivar, Missouri, Ross Williams of Springfield, Missouri, Jim Williams and his wife Louise of Leawood, Kansas, four grandchildren; Caitlin Christianson and her husband Dan, Jay Williams and his wife Michele, Darrin Fugitt and his wife Annette, and Chris Fugitt, five great grandchildren, Paige Wilson, Alena Fugitt, Hunter Fugitt, Darrin Fugitt, Genevieve Fugitt, and countless nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday at the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rodney Reeves officiating. Musical selections will be "When We All Get To Heaven" and "I Don't Know Who Holds Tomorrow" with Malinda Batten singing. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar, Missouri.
