Officer Charles Bergmann, DSN 0149, was commissioned as a Police Officer on 07/05/1948. He was assigned to the following Districts and Divisions throughout his career. The Personnel Division, 5Th, 8Th, 6Th, and the Identification Section. He retired from the department on 02/29/1980 and was rehired on 03/01/1980 as a Latent Fingerprint Examiner. He remained there until he retired from that civilian position on 08/30/1986 with a total of 38.15 years of dedicated service to the department. During his career he was awarded 2 Department Citations, 3 letters of Honorable Mention, 1 Chief's Letter of Commendation, and 1 Meritorious Service Citation. He was also a veteran of the United States Army and attained the rank of Sergeant.

Bergmann (nee Apenbrinck); dear father of Joyce (Ken) Becker, Michael (Mary) Bergmann and Janice (Larry) Webb; loving grandfather of Kim, Ron, Michelle, Keith, Tim, Kevin, Tom, Jason, Scott and Emma; dear great-grandfather of Jake, Nicholas, Andrew, Jonathan, Cameron, Julia, Lydia and Austin; dear brother of Ethel (Creighton) Patrick; dear cousin of Shirley Moelling; our dear uncle, great-uncle and friend to many.

Services:Visitation at KUTIS AFFTON Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Sun., Jan. 20, 4-8 p.m. then taken to Gethsemane Lutheran Church (3600 Hampton Ave.) on Mon., Jan. 21, for visitation at 11 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m.

Interment National Cemetery. Det. Bergmann retired from the St. Louis Police Department after 40 years of loyal service.

Contributions to Health Cabinent through Gethsemane Lutheran Church gratefully appreciated.
