ALBANY--Alva Beall Sr., 70, RR 1, died late Friday in Ball Hospital, Muncie, after an extended illness.
He was born in Blackford County, attended schools in that area, and spent his early years there before coming to Delaware County in 1931. He served with the Army in Alaska during World War II.
Mr. Beall was employed at Chevrolet-Muncie (now Muncie Hydra-matic), retiring after more than 10 years. Earlier, he was employed for several years with Airflow Sheet Metal in Fort Wayne. He was a member of Muncie Moose Lodge 33, American Legion Post 167 in Albany, United Auto Workers Local 499, and the Avondale Sympathy Club.
Survivors include his wife, Lotha Dean Beall; four daughters, Juanita Middaugh, Montpelier, Peggy (Mrs. William) Armstrong, and Patricia (Mrs. Roger) Plum, Hartford City, and Betty (Mrs. David) Groves, Russiaville; a son, Alva L. Beall, Jr., Asheboro, N.C.; three sisters, Junetta Ward, Albany, Ethel Walker, Haines City, Fla., and Martha Beall, Redkey; a brother, James Beall, Farmland; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Harry and Omer, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Meeks Mortuary Chapel, Muncie. Entombment will be in Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie. Calling hours at the mortuary are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and prior to services Monday.
