The family also asks that you please share how Floyd has touched your life. Your stories will be cherished for years as we celebrate the lasting legacy he has left behind. Please leave your remembrances at www.PenwellGabelOlathe.com, or you can also bring them to the visitation or service. Floyd was born April 18, 1928 to Floyd & Daisy Huggins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robert & Larry. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan E. Huggins, of the home; as well as his daughter, Candi Stewart; his two grandsons, Matt & Eric; three sisters: Vivian, Peggy, and Shirley; and one brother, Ted. Floyd is a graduate of Olathe High School. He went to Fort Scott Community College where his talent led him to be placed in the National Jr. College Football Hall of Fame. FSCC launched him to the next step of his football career at the University of Florida where he graduated with a Bachelor in Education then later earned a Master's degree from Pitt State University in Education. While playing for the University of Florida, he played in the only after season event, the North vs. South All-Star game. Following his college career, after 2 years of service in the United States Navy, Floyd went on to play with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Rounding out his football days, Floyd coached many young men to greatness with his raw talent, motivation, and dedication to create not only the best football teams, but players that would grow to be positive role models and respected members of their community. Floyd was a member of the Board of Trustees of JCCC, on the Greater Kansas City Sports commission, and served as president of the Mid America Saddle Horse Club. Floyd's professional career was spent as Vice President of Fidelity Union Life Insurance company for 21 years. More than any career, athletic or academic accolade, Floyd was a devoted father to his only child, Candi, as well as the greatest 'papa' his two grandsons, Matt & Eric, could ever have. His presence was great in all of our lives. Although we will miss him deeply, his legacies will live on through all who knew & loved him.
